Irdeto to buy Cryptoworks Irdeto has announced that it has reached a preliminary agreement with Philips for the purchase of its CryptoTec business unit. The division employs 65 people in Europe and China and is best known for the Cryptoworks conditional access system used by operators including UPC Direct, Digiturk and Primacom. In addition to its work with pay-TV systems, Irdeto has been developing Digital Rights Management (DRM) and CA products for premium mobile content and mobile TV services.
